The 5th Experiential Learning Conference started with its official opening ceremony in Tbilisi, Georgia, 2026, organized by the European School, Tbilisi and the Caucasus & Central Asia Association of IB World Schools (CCAAIBWS).

The ceremony featured opening and welcoming speeches by:

• Sophio Bazadze – CEO & Director of European School, Tbilisi
• Tamar Makharashvili – Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth
• Francesco Banchini – Founder & Chairman of CCAAIBWS, CEO & Director of EAS
• Vedrana Pavletić – Senior Development and Recognition Manager of IB AEM
• Haif Bannayan – Director of Europe, Middle East, Africa & Canada, International Baccalaureate
• Olli-Pekka Heinonen – Director General of IB
• Jane Larsson – Executive Director of CIS
• Teresa Atwa – Vice President of International Services, Cognia

The speeches highlighted the importance of the conference and its role over the past five years, emphasizing how the Association has continued to bring the region together through meaningful collaboration and shared learning.

This year’s theme, Engage, Explore, Empower, sets the tone for the days ahead.
